#tuesdaytips - most thoughtful gifts ever are homemade. My friend greeted me on Saturday with Quince jam her husband had made from fruit from the garden. 🪴 I slathered it on cheese on toast & it was DREAMY. A chutney/jam maker I am not- but I do have a few homemade gift ideas up my sleeve for #Christmas. Yes, it’s time-consuming, but so is negotiating Christmas traffic & queues & ensuing mayhem. Plus I get to use up storage items I have in the house. Win win. ♻️♻️🎁🎄🌲🤶

🍴The secret to mid-week dinners? 🍝🍝1️⃣Step one- agree with alacrity when The Mothership offers to make you a Bolognese sauce. 2️⃣Step two- serve it up in the traditional sense (ie, heaped on top of spaghetti) one night. 3️⃣Step three- serve it up a SECOND time during the week, but mix it up a little. In this case, I have cooked fusilli pasta with some broccoli, stirred in the remainder of the Bolognese, then topped with mozzarella balls before sprinkling over a mix of mozzarella and cheddar on top. 🧀🧀🧀🧀Into the oven it went & 15 mins later, this gooey, cheesey bake emerged. And to my delight, the children agreed that it was delicious (never a given.) 🙄 Himself, who is not a lover of cheese, just had a plate of fusilli & sauce & said it was lovely. 🥰 And the best bit? There’s enough left for my lunch tomorrow! #result 😀 #midweekmeals #midweekdinner #cookingforfamily #pleasingeveryone #pastabake #pastabolognese #thankGodforthemothership

Oh, the absolute joy of a quiet Saturday evening! We were supposed to go to a friend’s for dinner but himself had a ROTTEN cold & I was very glum 😞 because we had to cancel. But, inspired by #leonardandhungrypaul by Ronan Hessian, we broke out the scrabble board instead, lit a candle and embraced home comforts. 😞Every start of the new school term I tell myself, ‘This time will be different: I’ll plan better, take less on, be more organised. ⁣

🧙🏼‍♀️And by the time October rocks round I’m tired, (very tired) & by Halloween I’ve no need of a costume because I’m a haggard & MUCH less sexy version of Morticia Adams, propped up on the sofa barely able to keep hold of my G&T. ⁣
⁣💭So help a sister out. What are some of your strategies to manage the day-to-day chores , achieve some balance in your life and relieve a bit of the strain? I’ve done some batch cooking and I’m definitely getting better at handing a few chores over to the kids.⁣

💆 I’ve also had a session with @cicadawellbeing, and as well as being delightful, she shared a few thoughts on how to unwind and distress.⁣

🛍️ Many of my favourite items aren’t even from #charityshops, but were dresses friends bought & couldn’t be bothered to return when they didn’t fit, or had simply tired of. Some, such as the turquoise blue top was from a #swapshop organised by @martinaklapicka. It was a brilliant evening & I thoroughly recommend doing one with your pals.

Should Tilly be trailed around the shops? I don’t think so. Apparently some large stores are considering making their shops dog-friendly. People, I am CONFLICTED. 😐 ⁣

The dog lover in me wants to say ‘Of course!’ All dogs should be welcome! What a way to add some fun to the shopping experience! 🐶🐕🐕‍🦺🐩🐾⁣

But…. If people are browsing and shopping, they are not necessarily looking after their pets. What about other shoppers who are terrified of dogs? What if one dog starts a row with another dog?? I don’t think it makes for a very relaxing experience.⁣
